A Little Bit About Me.......
......and how Two Seven Eight Photography began.
I've always loved taking photos and somehow naturally fell into the role of designated “phone photographer” - the one snapping anything and everything, whether people asked for it or not. Then, about four years ago, I got my first real camera as a gift… a gift I will be forever grateful for.
Suddenly, what had been a hobby turned into something much more exciting. I spent hours practising, experimenting, and watching a LOT of tutorials (quickly learning that photography is anything but simple), and despite how steep the learning curve was, I loved every challenge it brought, each one pulling me deeper into how far you can take a single image, building emotion, depth, and story from something so fleeting. It’s a career I once could only have dreamed of, something that truly lights me up, fuels my passion, and keeps me wanting more; always learning, always evolving, always chasing that next moment to capture better than the last.
For two years, I ran free sessions alongside my full-time management job, very much in the dull and hugely soul-draining corporate world, juggling evenings and weekends, shooting, editing, and slowly building both my skills and confidence. Then about 18 months in, with a lot of support (and a bit of a leap of faith), I decided to go all in. I opened my little studio, said goodbye to full time corporate life, and haven’t looked back since.
I’m a mid-40s, proud mum of two….... furbabies Stanley & Frenchie, who very much run our house and daily lives. I am also an incredibly proud step mum to the most amazing young man who has been a part of my life for 10 years, at 12 years old he is growing up to be such a well mannered, intelligent, kind hearted and utterly hilarious young man - who is an absolute credit to us all.
You see, life didn’t quite follow the path I once imagined, having been diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis in my early 20s, I have faced years and years ongoing challenges with fertility. After many years of many failed IVF cycles, tears and heartbreak we made the difficult decision to step away and focus on the things that we have been blessed with in life.
This journey through health challenges has shaped me more than I probably realise, and it’s played a big part in how I see photography. I’ve come to really understand how quickly moments pass, especially with little ones, and it’s something I always hold close when I’m behind the camera.
For me, photography isn’t just about taking pictures. It’s about capturing real moments, the ones you’ll look back on and smile at for years to come. I like my sessions to feel relaxed, easy, and actually enjoyable (no awkward stiff posing here). Whether it’s in the studio or out on location, I aim to keep things natural and fun. I cover everything from studio portraits (for any age), pets, family sessions and weddings, to creative shoots, events, festivals, and professional branding - and honestly, I love the variety.
One of my favourite parts of what I do is meeting people and hearing their stories - learning about you, your family, and the moments that matter most to you. It allows me to create something deeply personal and full of meaning. I genuinely get so much joy from giving, from turning those connections into images you can treasure forever.
Taking the leap into this has been the best decision I’ve ever made. I genuinely feel so lucky to do something that brings me so much joy, and I’d love to capture your story too.
Fun fact: Two Seven Eight is actually Stanley’s birthday - my furry son, my shadow, and my little constant. He’s seen me through some challenging times, and his love has meant more than I could ever put into words - so I wanted to honour this love forever. We really don’t deserve dogs… they’re a daily tonic 🤍
